With wood wall art, I start with what the tree has already done and try not to mess it up. Every board has its own grain, knots, and quirks, and my job is to shape, carve, or assemble it into something you actually want to stare at.
Some pieces are simple, letting the grain do all the talking. Others use cut and layered wooden art panels to build patterns, stripes, or geometric designs that feel almost like a quilt made out of lumber. I sand, finish, and seal each one so it is smooth to the touch but still clearly wood, not plastic pretending to be wood.
These pieces are perfect when you want warmth on the wall without more fabric or another framed picture. Hang one where you would normally put a painting and see how much character a slab of well-behaved hardwood can bring to a room.
